KT, Korea’s WiBro service provider, announced collaboration with navigation system companies including i-Mercury and iNITS to release two navigation systems enabling wireless broadband Internet.
The WiBro enabled navigation systems not only support navigation, terrestrial DMB, video streaming but also full-browsing Internet with which people can check out the latest news, e-mail and search other information, said KT. Major portal websites, media, and traffic information websites are accessible through icons on the front page. Other websites can be reached by inputting addresses, added KT.
KT plans to enhance the validity of WiBro on portable digital devices by offering the most sought after services such as real-time traffic information, oil prices and local information.
MD-5000, the embedded navigation system of i-Mercury, can be set up on all kinds of vehicles. It features Intel’s 624MHz CPU, and DMB. Black box and lane guide system are optional. Kiwi PW300 of iNITS features a seven inch LCD screen(800x480), terrestrial DMB, MP3 player and video streaming.
