# Motorola said that it signed a contract with Zain Saudi Arabia to deploy the first LTE network in the Kingdom. Motorola will be deploying the largest LTE network for Zain in the capital city, Riyadh and will provide an end-to-end LTE solution including radio access network (RAN), an Evolved Packet core (EPC), devices and optimization and integration services.
# Alcatel-Lucent announced that it has been selected by SFR for a trial of LTE mobile broadband technology. Alcatel-Lucent will provide an end-to-end LTE solution including base stations (eNodeBs), Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and associated management systems enabling SFR to evaluate the performance of LTE services and opportunities to introduce new multimedia applications.
# Alcatel-Lucent and Sequans announced their collaboration on LTE solutions for operators of TD-LTE networks in Asia and Europe who are planning to offer services at 2.6 GHz. The first result will be a Sequans 2.6 GHz USB dongle to be used in operator trials this year.
# Ixia announced that NTT DOCOMO has selected its wireless testing solution to validate the functionality of its pre-deployed LTE network. Ixia's end-to-end wireless testing solution includes the IxCatapult and IxLoad test applications.
# Continuous Computing, picoChip and Cavium Networks announced that they have collaborated to produce the world's first complete LTE femtocell reference design that includes the LTE modem (PHY), radio frequency (RF) and packet processors, protocol software, intelligent router functionality and a complete Evolved Packet Core (EPC) simulator.
# Alcatel-Lucent announced that MTS-Ukraine in Ukraine and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to conduct a LTE trial, which will begin in the second half of 2010.
