With the increasing development of mobile subscriber access rates, mobile data services, and operator requirements for precise control of services, abilities like packet processing and service based policy control for mobile core network products have become key to preventing bottlenecks. The ZXUN xGW, provides a maximum packet service processing ability of 160Gbps for single-cabinet, and is enhanced with mobile broadband access for EVDO, WiMAX, HSPA(+) and LTE, as well as a hardware-based QoS guarantee for service over mobile networks. The ZXUN xGW is also capable of expanding to WiFi and xDSL/xPON fixed broadband access.

Huawei unveiled its latest innovation in mobile broadband terminal devices, the E398 modem, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The E398 is the world’s first triple-mode LTE modem compatible with all three major network standards: LTE, UMTS, and GSM.
The triple-mode modem, based on Qualcomm's MDM9200TM chipset, will enable end-users to surf with high speed provided by LTE technology while seamlessly switching to other standards (UMTS or GSM). The modem also supports multiple mainstream LTE frequencies.

During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, AT4 wireless will demonstrate multi-RAT capabilities of its E2010 Broadband Wireless Test Set, including TD-LTE and 3GPP UMTS.
TD-LTE, Time Division Duplex version of the LTE technology provides asymmetric use of unpaired spectrum allocated to next generation cellular networks. As such, TD-LTE is expected to become a leading cellular communications standard for the next decade, specially in China, and first network rollout is expected to happen during 2010.

Alcatel-Lucent today announced that MTS-Ukraine, one of the leading mobile operators in Ukraine and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to conduct a Long Term Evolution (LTE) trial, which will begin in the second half of 2010.
“We embrace innovation that to us is a recipe for success,” said Andrei Dubovskov, Head of MTS-Ukraine. “LTE is a logical next step in the development of high-speed data transmission services. The launch of the trial LTE solution will enable us to assess the benefits of 4G technology not just in theory but through real practical experience.”

Alcatel-Lucent announced it has signed a cooperation agreement with Telecom Italia (TI) to engage in a new technology development program, including a trial of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless broadband technology. The joint program aims to assess the evolution of mobile radio access network, in order to prepare Telecom Italia to offer its customers a wider range of next-generation services, by optimising investments.
Leveraging the respective strengths of TI Lab and Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent’s research arm, two of the industry’s leading R&D organizations, a unique end-to-end LTE trial has been initiated. The trial will assess how to deploy next-generation mobile access technology and how to fully exploit its capabilities, in order to introduce new mobile services, while reducing the time-to-market.

NEC announced today at the Mobile World Congress that it is supporting Telefonica O2 in its trial of LTE (Long-Term Evolution) 4G next-generation mobile services in the UK.
O2 deployed NEC's flagship microwave backhaul solution, PASOLINK, to provide a high-capacity, resilient transmission link to one of O2's key LTE trial sites in the Slough area, Berkshire, UK. NEC's PASOLINK is used to carry high-definition video streaming, mobile gaming, high-speed file transfer and video conferencing.
"NEC provided us with the high performance and flexible access link to trial our next generation LTE mobile service," said Nigel Purdy, Head of Networks, Telefonica O2 UK.
